The Hanna-moon Continues

Honeymoon in St Lucia, Law School Graduation, Brian Moved to Richmond, Bar Prep, Virginia Bar, Buying Our First House, Moving, Passing the Bar, Trip to California, Trip to New York, Celebrated Friends Marriages, Went to Camp,  Decorated The Hanna House,  Weekends in Staunton, Celebrated Birthdays, Promotion to Media Supervisor, First Halloween at The Hanna House, First River Thanksgiving Together, Fence Installation, First Christmas Tree, George, First Christmas in Richmond, New Years in Richmond...WOW....just a few milestones in our first year of marriage....
To celebrate we spent last weekend at Keswick Hall - a beautiful old mansion/hotel near Charlottesville, VA.  We spent the weekend dining on delicious food (Fossetts at Keswick and Duners in Ivy), drinking amazing wine, riding bikes through the beautiful Keswick Blue Ridge mountain neighborhood, playing pool (not very well mind you), and just enjoying a weekend away with an amazing husband.  Keswick allows pets; but we decided to leave George at home (first time since we got him) with The Grammers - he got an excellent report card (such a good boy)!
Amazing Dinner - Tuna for E,   Steak for B, Calamari to share...yummm
 Room 14 - Hanna

The Hannas - married one year!
We came home from Keswick on our actual anniversary to torrential downpours, an afternoon of DVR catchup, lots of puppy love, and tons of wedding cake....that's right - we pulled the 3/6/10 cake out of the freezer and enjoyed a large slice (instead of dinner - wups!)....We were very pleasantly surprised at how well the cake withstood a year in the freezer - no freezer burn and although it lost it's smooth white buttercream frosted perfection... it actually tasted even better than I remembered....see pics below....

Dancing Machine

My husband is my favorite dancer - can you blame me?  Check out those moves!
To create your grooving gorilla - check out uglydance.com - it is an interactive work of art by the Swedish band Fulkutur.  Pretty cool stuff!  For a taste of Brian's REAL dancing skills - take a peek at the video from Matt and Alicia's wedding (go to 3:20 for a wicked handstand!)....

I am unable to locate a picture at the moment - but Brian's signature move is of course the bowler....as far as I'm concerned its a strike every time!

Love you Briguy!

Killer Cupcakes

To celebrate Brian's 29 years of greatness - I broke out the food coloring (a whole tube of it) and made his favorite Red Velvet Cupcakes from scratch.  This was my first attempt - but they turned out bloody brilliant if I do say so myself.  Just glad no one walked in while I was baking; the batter (RED RUM...RED RUM) was all over my kitchen and would have frightened anyone who mistook the spatula in my hand for a weapon. See below....
Finished product - complete with windmills from Pier 1 Imports
The scene kind of reminds me of these Dexter ads -

Anyways they were easy to make and delicious - will most definitely keep this recipe (Food Network) in the file for future bdays or Murder On The Dance Floor celebrations!

Ready for the Bar?

I know this guy is =)

Brian is leaving for Roanoke this afternoon to take the Virginia Bar Exam. I have always loved and admired Brian’s determination and passion for the law – and this summer he has put 110% into preparing for the exam (it’s a marathon not a sprint after all) – I am so proud of him! He will definitely be ready for some time off and a few beers come Wednesday afternoon!  These pictures are from his William & Mary Law School graduation in May....
Brian - the scholar - getting his Juris Doctor

Good luck Briguy

Speaking of being ready for the bar – this weekend we celebrated Blake’s bachelorette in Virginia Beach – what an amazing weekend! Blake has a wonderful group of friends and we had a blast on the beach and at “The Tuna” – celebrating our bride to be… Can’t wait for the big day (11th of September)…
