skeptical
George is not so sure about the new car - he has taken to pouting when we drive around town. I think he'll be happier once baby sis is back there with him....

The Nursery
We are so excited to share pictures of our nursery - 2 weeks till Baby Gal Hanna's due date and her room is ready and waiting! We wanted to create a cozy and colorful place where our little lady can relax, read, play, make friends with a giraffe, and dream! Pictures, Details, and Sources below...
The room color is Benjamin Moore's Van Deusen Blue - I was set on using this tranquil color regardless if it was a boy or girl - our blue continued with the Surya wool rug we purchased from One Kings Lane. We "girl-d" it up with the pink curtains from Target's dwell collection and an adorable pink mobile from HelloHucklebee on Etsy. Our biggest splurge (which ended up being partly a gift - thanks Hannas!) was the oversized PB Kids Glider and Ottoman (ottoman is not pictured) - this thing is unbelievably cozy and we were unable to find anything less expensive with the same look and comfort level - we see it as an investment piece and can wash the slipcovers or even order new ones should our taste change. The magazine style book shelf and books were a gift from my sweet sister in laws. The crib was a gift from my parents that I first read about on Young House Love - we really liked the utility of a drawer underneath, the mix of white and dark wood, and affordable price tag for a crib made of real wood (order it here). The dresser we found Patterson Antiques (here in Richmond) - we are using it as a changing table/dresser. Artwork is a cross stitched saying from my nursery growing up, personalized fabric hoops (made by my dear friend Boupha - more on that here), a colorful print by one of my favorite artists Caitlin McGauley (you have probably seen her adorable watercolors for Kate Spade, Lonny, among others), two muppets I made at FAO in NYC, and a silver giraffe from Home Goods!
This room was a labor of love - can't wait for it's sweet occupant to arrive any day now!
The pink blanket was knitted by my Aunt Susan - same design my Baba used to make for us - so soft/special!
books and a sweet stuffed NAVY puppy from my brother Robert (the baby's Uncle R)
It's time to meet the muppets!
The storage below houses extra sheets, towels, baby wipes and supplies
Hand knitted blankets from Madeline and Nichole

Chicken or The Egg
We are 37 weeks pregnant today - so the question is...which will happen first...the Honda Civic will sell - or Baby Girl Hanna will arrive? The race is on!
Interested in a sweet ride - check out the car listing here.

She has been a great ride and I'll miss her dearly - but sadly with George and little Miss Hanna arriving...we were in desperate need of something a bit larger. We decided to stay in the Honda family (they have been good to us) and got a Honda Pilot - I like to call it my truck!
This will be us in a few years - kick come, kick come, kick come with the kick drum Kellan...i...i...i

MIYATB JD
My apologies for the lack of posting lately - baby is due in 25 days - but I am determined to get back on track so Home Sweet Hanna will be our scrapbook of family moments as well as fun home improvements and of course random musings. First things first....
She graduated!
Congrats to Mary on her law degree from William and Mary – we are so
proud of you! We all attend the very HOT
ceremony on Saturday May 13th.
Despite the goofy cap, Mary looked beautiful in her cute one shouldered
Navy dress and open (apparently that is a W&M thing) gown. Now onto the Bar Exam prep this summer then
she starts her legal career in DC this fall!
This girl is wicked smaaaart! We
love you! Few pics below of the happy
graduates and her cheering section.

Dog vs Cat Diary
The dog diary certainly sounds like a day in the life of George....too funny....
Recently we watched the terrific Pixar movie Up! - Robert always tells me how the dog reminds me of George - so sweet, loving, and happy go-lucky! I could not agree more....."I was hiding under your porch because I love you"

In Living Color
For our 2nd Anniversary we purchased a custom illustration of our home by an amazing artist on Etsy Rebekka Seale - check out her shop here. Could not be more thrilled with the beautiful whimsical illustration of Home Sweet Hanna - complete with our first baby George in front...
Originally I planned on putting it in the nursery - but loving seeing it everyday so it has found a home in our family room.
One of the coolest parts (super added value) is that Rebekka sends you not only your custom illustration but a disc with the file and instructions for creating adorable correspondence cards. Love that we can have such a personalized image to share with friends and family - be on the lookout - will be coming to a mailbox near you soon...

Muffindoodles - YUM
During our Big Reveal Brunch we served a new to Home Sweet Hanna dish - Muffindoodles! They are basically a snickerdoodle cookie in muffin form - and 100% delicious. These yummy doodles were so popular that we had zero leftovers.....
I found the recipe on eat me delicious blog. They were fun to make and were a sweet compliment to our savory breakfast spread!
Snickerdoodle Muffins
slightly modified from Culinary Concoctions by Peabody
2 sticks unsalted butter
1 cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
3/4 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp cream of tartar
3/4 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
1 1/4 cup sour cream
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar and 1 TBSP cinnamon mixed together for rolling*
1.Cream the butter and sugar until soft about 3 to 5 minutes. Add in the vanilla, eggs one at a time, and then mix until incorporated.
2.In a separate bowl, mix together your dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, baking powder, cream of tartar and nutmeg
3.Add the flour mixture and the sour cream alternately to the egg-butter mixture in the additions until fully incorporated
4. Using an ice cream scoop, scoop out muffin batter one at a time and drop into a shallow bowl filled with the cinnamon sugar mixture. Roll the muffin around in the mixture until it is covered completely in cinnamon sugar. Place dough into greased muffin tin (I prefer the Bakers Joy spray with flour in it).
5. Bake them for approx. 20-22 minutes in a 350F oven or until they are golden brown.
Happy Baking!

20 Week Ultrasound
Per yesterday's post - It's a GIRL! So exciting!
The ultrasound was amazing - could not believe how detailed the pictures are including the four chambers of her heart - truly incredible! Two pictures to share below -
A friend of mine turned me on to the blog 269 days - a cartoonist diary of her pregnancy - the cartoon about the ultrasound captures our experience as well - Baby Gal Hanna did not want to show off her parts and it took the technician jamming my stomach a few times to have her move into a less modest position....
Let the nesting begin - be on the lookout for nursery updates!

It's a....
We find out this Wednesday at our 8AM appointment. I am surprised by how many friends wait till delivery - we are just not that patient! In order to make it more than a phone call to our parents we are hosting a "big reveal" brunch next Sunday to tell our parents and siblings and spread the news....until then...mums the word!
My prediction....I do not have a feeling either way - just feels like a giant gummy bear in there - but the "old wives tales" are pointing towards boy - so we will see! Brian thinks we are bound to have a girl since both of his sisters have two daughters - and we both come from mostly girl families...
Boy or Gal - we do not care - Can't wait to meet you Baby Hanna! We are half way there - Week 20 - our due date is June 25th! Can't believe how quickly things are moving now - the first 16 weeks seemed like years!

I found this guide on Pinterest - a reference for common pattern names....
It was originally posted on Sweet Design - a blog by Amy Atlas. Which ones are your favorite? I have always loved IKat and Chevron - need to use more patterns around Home Sweet Hanna!

Contact Your Representatives - SOPA and PIPA opposition
The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA) will destroy the free and open Internet - as well as make my job as a digital media planner and blogger much more difficult. The Internet allows us to express ourselves and easily share content - these acts threaten our freedoms. To learn more go to Wikipedia today and enter your zipcode....contact your Representatives and tell them you oppose SOPA and PIPA....
