Richmonders take note - Tuesdays there are Criterion Club nights (translation: $6 tickets and $5 LARGE popcorn.) We had been planning on seeing The Town last night - and lucked into discounted tickets and more popcorn that would could ever take down in 2 hours! You sign up for a free card at Guest Services and start earning points...looks like Tuesday may become our go-to movie night out....
The Town was awesome (especially the Fenway shootup scenes) - action packed, haunting, thought provoking, and well directed....
I thought Jon Hamm was ok at best - my opinion may have been jaded by his ill attempted Bawston accent...or maybe it is too hard for me to see him as anyone but the brooding Don Draper. Blake Lively is way too pretty to play a coke head baby mama CharlesTOWNie....but major snaps to Ben Affleck who directed and stared in this thriller that kept me guessing until the end.
We decided it was Two Parts The Departed mixed with One Part Good Will Hunting and a splash of The Shawshank Redemption (added by Briguy).
Overall I really enjoyed The Town and would recommend any fans of action/crime movies and I of course recommend saving a buck at the theater....so go see it on a Tuesday at the Bowtie...
